Joann Fax has over 35 years of academic administration experience serving in multiple roles at Howard University. Most recently Joann served as Executive Director for Executive Search Support for the Offices of President and Provost in the recruitment of vice presidents and academic deans.
Previously, she was Executive Director and Assistant Dean of Administration for the School of Law for ten years where she was the principal advisor to the Dean of the School of Law on all management, human resource, fiscal and facility matters; oversight for all fiscal, technological, operational, facility, and human resource management of the Law School. Prior to serving as Assistant Dean, she was Special Assistant for Administration and Technological Services in the College of Nursing, Administrative Director of the Family Medical Group as well as the Family Planning Center in the University’s Hospital, respectively.
Before joining Howard, Joann held positions in Triton and Medicus Systems Corporations and with Georgetown University’s Community Health Plan.
Her professional associations include the National Association of College and University Business Officers, the National Association of Health Care Executives, and the American College of Health Care Executives.
Her work was recognized by multiple awards from Howard University and the University’s Hospital, student and professional societies, the Prince George’s (MD) County Chamber of Commerce, and the Maryland Association for Counseling and Development.
Joann leads our diversity training and onboarding practice while consulting on assignments.
Joann holds a Bachelors of Arts from Marshall University and an MBA from Howard University.
